Welcome to the Brookline Christian Food Pantry

The Pantry is run by volunteers and is supported by local churches. Listed below are operating guidelines that are in place to help make your visit with us go smoothly and keep us in compliance with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and the Department of Agriculture.

 VERIFICATION PROCESS: All clients must provide the documentation needed for the annual verification process in order to receive food. The verification is done in July of each year. The required documentation includes: proof of income, proof of address (utility bill), and a valid photo ID card. You will also be asked to give birth dates and gender of each family member that resides in the house. A birth certificate may be requested.

 Monthly Visit Process: Each month all clients will be asked to confirm:

-The number of family members between the ages of 0-5, 6-12, 13-17, 18-34, 35-59, 60+

- Do you receive food stamps? Are you legally disabled? Are you a veteran?

 Our volunteers gather to bag and distribute food on the second Saturday of the month with the exception of August when we open on the first Saturday of the month. The doors open for volunteers at 7:30am.

 The pantry opens to clients from 9:00am – 11:00am. Due to the limited space in the pantry we must ask clients to wait outside until the doors open at 9:00am. Please dress accordingly.

 When you first enter the food pantry you will receive a number. Seating is provided to make your wait more comfortable. When your number is called you will proceed to the front table to complete the sign in process.

 If you are unable to come to the food bank on the designated food bank Saturday, you may send a friend or family member to pick up your food. A “Proxy form” must be completed, giving authorization for that person to pick up your food.

 We are not staffed to deliver food beyond the front curb. We have a limited number of volunteers and they must remain at the food pantry to be available to help all clients.

 Due to the limited amount of food at the pantry, each client may be given food only once a month.

 We ask that you make every effort to arrive on the scheduled food bank day before 11:00am. Those arriving later cannot be guaranteed of receiving food.

*Tree of Life Open Bible Church has a Clothing Room located down the hall from the food pantry. You may visit the clothing room between 9:00am-11:00am on food distribution days. All items are free of charge.

*The Brookline Christian Food Pantry reserves the right to refuse service to any individuals who may become abusive or make personal threats to any of our volunteers.

*The U.S. Department of Agriculture prohibits discrimination in its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientations, and marital or family status.

We can always use extra sets of hands unloading the distribution truck the Thursday before Food Bank. To volunteer, arrive at the church at 9am.
